Once we came back from Tokyo, Dad had a little less than a week left in Korea. He had been intrigued with the idea of taking the KTX (fast train) down to Busan since his first trip to S.K. He has always loved trains. Before we left for Busan, we had a great time on the U.S. Army base with my base parents. They treated us to an amazing brunch... a place where all the fancy generals go to eat!
Hartell House, always an amazing treat. |
Dragon Hill Lodge. I miss meandering around base :( |
My second home! I miss my second parents so much! |
My little nephew, Rocky! I love my little one. |
Down in Busan! Lovely walk down to our hotel. We had the craziest morning. We almost missed our train... only two minutes before our train left! |
Yup. First thing we did in Busan... take naps. We were exhausted! |
Which led to a Starbucks run. |
Neat view from SB. |
We went on a hike near Haeundae Beach on Dongbaek Island. |
Korea hosts some seriously pretty beaches. |
Mermaid Statue. |
We both thought this was an amazing walking path. |
We took at taxi over to Yonggungsa Temple. |
Still one of my favorite places in Korea. |
Buddhist Goddess of Mercy |
Dinner at Gwangalli Beach. |
Chimaek! Some of the best I've had in Korea. |
Gwangan Bridge beauty. |
Late night treat... Softree ice cream cone! |
Breakfast at Holly's Coffee... perfect. |
View from Holly's. |
Too bad it decided to start raining :( But we weren't going to let that stop us! |
First stop of the day. |
Quiet and peaceful. |
Jalgachi Fish Market. I think Dad was a little caught off guard. |
I still think of it as the free aquarium of death. |
Port outside the fish market. |
Massive mall down in Nampo. |
Fried potato and seafood snack. |
My nommy sushi lunch. |
Fried squid on a stick. If I ever wind up back in Korea, I'm going to try it. |
Mint choco gelato for dessert. |
We explored our way up to the top of the mall to the Skypark. Turns out there was a mini-"zoo' up there! Here were some sweet little guinea pigs. |
This poor deer... it was cold and wet. All of the hair was rubbed off it's behind. It was definitely unhappy. :( |
Little sheep friend. |
Some peacocks. |
And chickens. |
View of the "zoo". |
Sky deck. |
This would be a really fun place to hang out on a pretty day. |
Views from the top of the Lotte Mall. |
And of course, the water show! |
Back in Dongtan, we had a nice kimbop lunch on the roof of my house. This was after some intense games of badminton in the park... I kicked Dad's butt :) |
Wednesday night, I treated Dad to a Korean baseball game! Lotte Giants vs. LG Twins. |
Cheap beer at the ballpark... something Korea has right! |
Sun going down over the stadium. Perfect. |
They handed out bags. Everyone blew them up and put them on their heads. So strange. |
Dad joined in... I did not. :) |
Dad's last day, my director's treated us to one of the oldest galbi restaurants around. Three generations have owned it. |
There was a huge thumb outside of the place. Significance? I have no clue... |
Ohhh. My. Gosh. |
They were such a joy to share a meal with. I feel so lucky to have worked for them. |
I hope you had a good visit Dad! I know for fact you appreciated the food :) |
Dad's visit was great. Even I got to try and see new things with him around. It wasn't as sad goodbye this time around because I was going to see him within a couple a weeks back in the States. I hope y'all enjoyed Dad and I's little adventure around the other half of the globe. ;)
