Doozies

It's been a couple of weeks since I last updated! Things have been good around Dongtan. Despite all the stress of work (I will have gone in the last two Saturdays of my own free will!), I have rather enjoyed being there recently. I just celebrated my sixth month here and it still feels like I just arrived! I can't believe how quickly time has gone by. I'm sure my dark eye circles and breaking out face SHOW how long I've been here... even if it doesn't feel that way to me. :)

I no longer feel like stranger in Korea. I hardly ever notice the glances anymore, then again I'm not really looking out for them. Yes, sometimes I still get stopped to take a picture or some Korean needs to practice their English with a foreigner (and obviously I have a sign on my head that says, "ASK ME! ASK ME!"...heh), but overall things have really settled down. I moved into a co-workers old apartment and I think my standard of living has dramatically increased. I now have somewhat of a view, more space, and most importantly: HOT WATER. Also, the church I've been going to feels so much like home to me. If you are familiar with the Austin Stone, they are very much alike and are both Acts 29 churches. I've already learned so much being there for only a few months and have made friends that I now meet with every Sunday after church to have bible study. Such a blessing...

ANYWHO, here are some fun little things lately...

Gave away my most favorite pair of orange sneakers on Sunday to a homeless shelter in Seoul... I hope someone will love them just as much as I did... Also, they will have no idea they came from the good ole US of A! :)

Baby bears! Look at those eyes. They love their Auntie Sarah. I love talking to my Boo Boo on Skype... she never has any idea what's going on. It's hard to handle my emotions when my dad sends me pictures like this!

One of my Kindergarteners went to Bali and came back with a present for Teacher Sarah. I love little surprises like this! Her skin also came back a hundred shades darker. I was legitimately jealous of a 6 year old that day.

Field Trip to the Children's Zoo. I loooovvveeee the left most picture. Michelle was completely exhausted after the trip. Too bad none of my other students were. Luckily, I had on a pair of shades to they didn't realize they were talking to their teacher whose eyes were closed the whole time.  ;)

Happy Birthday Teacher Brittney! I will miss this girl when she goes. I don't know how I would have survived starting at SLP without her. Now that she's leaving, I'm expected to be the next her.... UGH, I already can't take the pressure!
And of course, little gems from my students... there are so many more, but I've failed to capture a lot of them recently :( I will try to do better...

Cool... how do you do that?

A tomato is the most delicious carrot? Say what?!
